This post is for anyone who'd like to know more about this interpretation of Yumigami.
Name: Yumigami
Age: A little over 100 in his current form. He and his siblings were all part of the same being before that, and that particular being is eternal and ageless.
Sex: Male
Yumigami is the god of the moon in Okami, where he represents and assumes the form of the rabbit in the zodiac. He is encountered in the Agata Forest after Amaterasu catches Whopper, a giant catfish who had swallowed the moon's reflection. Yumigami had been trapped inside the great fish's belly until then, and capturing it released the trapped god. Once free, he bestowed upon Amaterasu his ability to turn day into night at will by drawing a crescent in the sky.
The following is merely my interpretation, and is not necessarily canon.
As far as powers go, Yumigami doesn't possess any flashy elemental abilities like many of his siblings. His power is far more subtle, but just as important, if not moreso. As the god of the moon, he is the one who turns day into night at the end of each day, though he could raise the moon in the middle of the day without turning it to night if he wanted to (and sometimes does. When you can see the moon during the day, it's him being petulant).
He also has a good deal of control over the tides, though the sea is mostly under the jurisdiction of his sister, Nuregami.
Like all brush gods, his red markings are invisible to everyone but those with a high level of spirituality, or other supernatural beings. His ears are similar in that they appear as normal human ears to those with low spirituality.
Each Brush God carries with them a Divine Instrument at all times through which they channel their power. Yumigami's is a kine; a large wooden hammer traditionally used to pound mochi. He's also prone to using the heavy mallet as a weapon.
In a pinch, he can escape by returning to the moon, but only outdoors.
Personality:
Yumigami is somewhat abrasive, and intolerant of incompetence. The first thing he did upon being freed from Whopper's belly was to attack Amaterasu for eyeing the mochi he was making. That's another thing, he's very protective of his mochi, and those who have met him can vouch for how hard he can hit with that huge hammer. Though he acts like he doesn't enjoy the company of his family, he really does love them, even if they tend to grate on his nerves.
Despite being a rabbit, he isn't really afraid of much of anything, with the one exception being very large fish after having been eaten by one and getting trapped inside its stomach for a few decades.
He's one of the few Brush Gods by the time of Okamiden who doesn't have children, and in fact doesn't appear in that game at all.
